Who likes the M56?

Me neither.

For some of you, slogging up and down the motorway feels necessary. I MEAN, all the best developer jobs are in Manchester, aren’t they?

If you are based in Chester, Runcorn or Warrington and want to find something closer to home that still involves working with nice people, on new software, with cool tech, then I may have a solution for you.

There’s a software house close to Chester that is in the middle of a big transformation, moving everything across to a modern tech stack and changing how they work.

They’ve made several new hires over the past year to support their growth and aren’t stopping there. They want to add a new Software Developer to the team.

You’ll be working in a one of several small, agile squad. I can share the full tech stack with you, but it includes the likes of:

•             C# .NET Core

•             Microservices

•             Azure

•             React

•             CI / CD

They’ll place their trust in you. That means flexible working and plenty of autonomy when you need it. They’ll also invest in you. For example, the whole team is getting Azure DevOps training from Microsoft.

Plus, you’ll save all that commuting time. Think what you could do with it.

If you have a CV, send it across via the advert. If you don’t, get in contact with me at (url removed) or (phone number removed) to find out more.

The industry

Alpha FX are a foreign exchange company - do you know what Foreign Exchange is?
It's the transfer of money from different countries. So in short terms, it would be like going
on holiday and exchanging pounds for euros but on a much larger scale and with corporate
businesses instead of individuals like you or me. In order for these corporate businesses to make the most money possible, Alpha FX analyse the market to work out how much money they should send and at what time they should
send as this could have big effects on profit made. Alpha FX come up with strategies on how to minimise the risk of sending these large amounts of money in order to make the most profit possible for the businesses, and take a
percentage of this transaction - this is where their profit comes from. Foreign Exchange is
such a volatile market because things change all the time.

The background

Alpha FX was set up by a guy called Morgane Tillbrook in 2009. Morgane is a very successful
entrepreneur and became a multi-millionaire in his late 20s by building a tech platform and
selling it to Sky. Morgane had no experience within the FX industry which is why he's so
passionate about employing people from all sorts of backgrounds. Morgane got into FE because of two reasons. 1. The industry will be around forever and 2. The industry really needed disrupting. They differ from your typical Foreign Exchange company because of their long-term partnerships with clients. Typically, banks like Western Union and Money Corp have models where they just want to get any business they can, and it's only about the number of businesses they bring in. Alpha FX focuses more on their clients and choose to only work with corporate businesses who are trading with companies over between £30-300 million. They have a more strategic and consultative approach, essentially selling the best of the best.

Where they are now

Alpha FX have grown massively - when we first started working with them, they were only 15 people working in Windsor. Fast forward 5 years and they've now got 120 people with offices in London, Canada and Amsterdam. Their office is based in Paddington and is very cool - has a bar, gym, PT, barbers, TV rooms etc. I'll send you a video with the job spec. A real turning point for Alpha FX was in 2017 when they chose to IPO the business and float on the London Stock Exchange. They didn't need the IPO, they had enough money in the bank, but they wanted to be the best name in FE and to get some amazing names on board to show they really MEAN business. 60% of their equity is held by employers and 40% is held by top investors like JP Morgan. They were also named the most successful company to IPO in 2017.

The role

Portfolio Manager - this is a 360 role where you'll be closing business and managing a portfolio of clients. This role includes the whole sales cycle from finding the lead, closing the lead and managing the account. To start with you'll be working with a mentor to help in your development and further down the line you'll have an analyst working under you to help.

Your job is to essentially sell into CFO's. or business owners who deal internationally.

Basic salary

£30-50K OTE £75-80K

2nd year expected OTE of £124K

3rd year expected OTE of £204K

A hugely diverse range of clients rely on us to deliver the kind of change that adds genuine, lasting value to their business.
Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can MEAN that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
