Junior Developer/Assistant Computer Officer (Development)
Salary:
£27,074 to £36,386 per annum
Terms: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

The role-holder will assist the development of internal applications under the supervision of the Senior Computer Officer, as well as providing first-line and second-line support and assistance. The successful applicant will have a flexible, well organised and ‘can-do’ approach to the varied and demanding workload of this position and be a great team player within Support, as well as providing excellent customer service.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in some capacity with at least one programming language from VBA, VB.Net or PHP and preferably also exposure of working with other environments such as SQL, HTML, PHP, etc. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows (including networking, Active Directory and the registry), PC maintenance and Microsoft Office packages are desirable, as is the ability to independently problem-solve issues that you encounter. The role is sometimes required to deal with highly sensitive and/or confidential data in the execution of these duties, so being able to approach these with professionalism and maintain absolute confidentiality is key.

Some familiarity with recent Windows Server, MacOS X, Linux, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, PowerShell and Microsoft SQL Server would be an advantage, as would be previous experience working within another college or similar.
